Sonepat is also know as the Education city of North India. And now it is going to become the largest hub for Quality Education. Proposed Rajiv Gandhi Education City will be the Milestone for Sonepat in the field of education.

Haryana Government is going to set up Rajiv Gandhi Education City in Sonepat City. The Haryana Urban Development Authority (HUDA) has offered 11 sites for setting up educational institutes in the upcoming Rajiv Gandhi Education City at Sonepat.

A site is offered to the reputed international institutes and private universities over an area of 60 to 180 acres.

The other 10 sites, of 3 to 25 acres each, will be offered to institutes such as IITs, IIMs, NIFTs, universities, National Law School, research organisations, educational societies and trusts having track track of ten years, and institutes of higher education run by business houses having turn over more than Rs. 5000 Crore
